Larry Ice hosted a hugely successful Pennies for Parkinson’s fundraiser that raised $2,000! His event was held in June at the Ohio Valley University Campus and included a classic car show and a bake sale.
A rock-a-thon was also held, which consisted of people rocking in rocking chairs for an hour at a time to earn donations from friends! To help build awareness, Larry also set stations where people could visit with pharmacists, nursing specialists, deep brain stimulation patients and receive support group information. P
Prior to the event, funds began coming in after a local newspaper article helped spread the news. Just the mention of a Pennies for Parkinson’s fundraiser in the newspaper article quickly began bringing in results! Larry and his organizers not only raised funds for The Michael J. Fox Foundation but they brought a greater awareness of the disease to their community.
