Wedding season is upon us and we’re thrilled and grateful that so many generous brides, grooms and their families have chosen to turn their special day into a way to support The Michael J. Fox Foundation.
How are they doing this? When you make a gift to MJFF in lieu of traditional wedding favors, the Foundation will provide personalized favor cards (as seen here) to commemorate your generous donation. Your favor cards can be personalized with your own message to honor or memorialize a loved one, or simply to share some special words with your guests. Here’s another creative way to fundraise for The Michael J. Fox Foundation: create your own online charity registry through your Team Fox page. In addition to a traditional gift registry, guests can make donations as their wedding gift to you by visiting your Team Fox page.

My husband & I got married in a hurry after he was diagnosed with cancer last year; I couldn’t take Family Medical Leave from work to be with him without being his wife. I had been very busy as a caregiver for my parents (both had PD); our wedding was always on the back burner. Mom died, then Dad, then the cancer diagnosis. Hubby’s treatment was successful. My brother has PD. We’re having a Happy To Be Alive Party with a sub-theme: 1 year late wedding reception. We want no gifts, but I’d like to ask those who are inclined to bring a gift to instead bring donations to MJFF; my husband, a bike enthusiast, would like to ask for donations to Lance Armstrong’s Foundation. I don’t think our event would qualify as a Team Fox event, since we’d like to set out 2 “gift boxes” with a sign designating one for MJFF, one for LiveStrong. But I’d still be interested in getting a nice looking MJFF sign for the one box (probably a gift-wrapped shoe box or slightly larger box with a long slit in the top). Is there any way I can get one? Thanks!

This is definitely still a Team Fox fundraiser! It is fine for proceeds to go to multiple organizations as long as the donors are clear on how much of their donation is going to each charity.
