On September 12, Team Fox member Edna Woods, along with family and friends, will hold the 2nd Annual New England Parkinson’s Ride in Old Orchard Beach, Maine. This ride was started because Edna’s son, Chris, was diagnosed with Young-Onset Parkisnon’s disease at the age of 40. Chris has always been an avid cyclist, riding for various causes throughout the years so it made perfect sense for the Woods family to join up with Team Fox and organize their own ride to raise funds for Parkinson’s research.
The event is a pleasant ride through the countryside and along the ocean in Maine. A pasta supper is held on the night before the race so the cyclists can load up on carbs before the ride on Saturday morning. The Woods family has arranged for several of the motels along the beach to provide reduced rates for the cyclists, so it is the perfect way to spend a fall weekend at Old Orchard Beach, and ride for a good cause while you are there!
For more information on how you can particpate in the ride, visit their Web site www.newenglandparkinsonsride.org. Last year’s ride (as seen in the video above) raised close to $27,000, to help them reach their new fundraising goal of $35,000, visit their Team Fox page today.
